Tony Zerega founded Murray Tree Care in 2008 in Charleston, SC. Tony has been a professional arborist since 1998. He first began caring for trees as a residential tree caretaker and line clearance technician for Illinois Power. After weathering many harsh winters, Tony moved to his home state of Maryland where he worked for two national tree care companies, Care of Trees and Bartlett Tree Experts in the Maryland, Virginia, and DC areas. He was honored to be selected as Leading Crew Foreman during his time with Bartlett Tree Experts. Looking for a new challenge, Tony moved to Miami, Florida to work as a foreman for Native Tree Services. Finally, Tony settled here in Charleston, South Carolina, in 2004 and has been caring for the Lowcountry’s trees ever since.
Some of Tony's career highlights are tree care for former President Clinton, Queen Noor of Jordan, and homes of the Japanese Embassy. Additionally, he has pruned the Middleton Oak and the second largest Gingko tree in the United States.
Climbing trees is not only Tony's passion and profession, but his recreation also. He has competed in the International Society of Arboriculture Southern Chapter's Climbing Competition and the Carolina Arborist Association Competition.
